He is Our Protection

Psalm 17:6-9 " I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.

Our foundation for life must start and stop with God. We live in a lost and dying world, one where bad things do happen to us. Where being a Christian can bring persecution, struggles, and trouble. The truth is we are attacked because satan does not want to see us succeed, his desire is for us to fail. Now this does not mean every failure in life is caused by satan. Sometimes we may not have prepared enough, maybe we were not hearing God’s voice for what we were doing, or it is simply a chance to learn from our mistakes and improve. There are times though where it seems we are under constant attack, meeting resistance in everything we do. During those times we will fail if we solely rely on our strength, ability, and perseverance. In the end we will need to place our trust in God.

With God as our foundation, He hears our prayers and we know He will answer. Daniel prayed and had to wait 21 days but his prayer were answered. (Daniel 10:12-14) Joseph waited years, being falsely accused and sat in jail before God’s plan and purpose for His life was fulfilled. (Genesis 37, 39-42). All through the Bible are stories of people who endured great trials and tribulations, yet they endured. We must do the same because every time we fail to overcome a trial. It is one we will face again.

No matter what you are facing today. Whether it is sickness, the loss of a loved one, hardship at work/school, persecuted for your faith, struggling with life, or anything else. Know this, God is there for you. He hears your prayers and he provides the refuge, safety and protection we need to get through life’s toughest moments. Allow Him to guard and protect you. He will be your rock, your fortress, and place of refuge if you let Him.
