Holiness - Check out Philippians 2:12

Paul tells us in Philippians 2:12 to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” In other words, YOU immerse yourself into the Word of God, YOU establish your own lifestyle guidelines based on the Bible.

Philippians 2:12, “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” ESV

I have struggled a lot with the idea of working out salvation in the past because I am from a very legalistic background. The spirit of the verse is that we have the ability to dig into the Bible and learn who God is. As we learn more about His character, it is easier to honor and obey Him which is the point of the fear and trembling. Verse 13, “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” As we draw near to God, He works within us to accomplish His desires for us through giving us the longing and the ability to pursue.

The true spirit of the verse is to pursue Spiritual Maturity no matter the cost. What would you do today if you were already a spiritually mature person and I challenge you to do that thing?
